We came back for a month to arrange Nicky's mother's funeral and the associated administration that comes with an unexpected death and then, just as we were about to fly back to continue sailing Blue Velvet, we accepted an offer on our house. So, our flights were put on hold and we started another round of dealing with solicitors, but this time for conveyancing. Irritatingly the previous buyer we had flown back from Galicia to deal with had dropped out at the last minute and so we are slightly wary at the moment. Hopefully this new buyer is more organised and the sale will go through to completion which will allow us to move our homebase closer to family.
The whole process, however, seems very slow, I guess because we are counting the days wanting to be away enjoying sailing in the Western Mediterranean. Don't the solicitors realise that it is the sailing season? We can't really disappear off sailing though because apparently the sale papers we need to sign 'might' be ready at any moment. We're definitely living in limbo but, on the plus side, we will probably be able to visit the Southampton Boat Show which we weren't expecting to be able to do this year.
All in all we will be very pleased when the whole house selling and buying process is completed but, in the interim, it is now very apparent that we will not comfortably be able to sail across to the Eastern Mediterranean as planned this year. Our new plan therefore is to enjoy some sailing in the Western Mediterranean when all of the house business is completed but then leave Blue Velvet in the Western Mediterranean over winter ready to head east early next year.
