Anfi del Mar Gran Canaria

Leaving Puerto de Pasito Blanco

Puerto de Pasito Blanco was a very pleasant stop but we had our sights set on getting to the islands further west. Unfortunately, there was next to no wind on Monday 13 November and so we could have stayed put, however, overnight we had found the anchorage to be quite rolly. Add in that we wanted to give the batteries a good charge and we hatched a plan to motor a few miles up the coast to a more sheltered anchorage. We therefore left Puerto de Pasito Blanco at 10 am for a gentle motor further around Gran Canaria.
Approaching Anfi del Mar

Our destination was just 5 miles along the coast, the resort bay of Anfi del Mar. The motor was good for the batteries and our pilot book suggested that this is probably one of the best anchorages on Gran Canaria.

It certainly worked as an overnight sheltered anchorage but it is somewhat surrounded by high rise hotels.
Leaving Anfi del Mar

Our aspiration to move on meant a prompt start in the morning with a view to getting across to Tenerife. So, at 0700 we lifted the anchor and left Anfi del Mar. If we had planned to stay longer we would probably have anchored closer to Puerto de Arguineguín just to the east but as a passage stop and with no need to go ashore, Anfi del Mar had suited us just fine.

And so in the dawn light we continued our motor northwest up the southern coast of Gran Canaria hoping that the forecast wind would build quickly to speed us across to Tenerife.
