Petit St Vincent

Leaving Clifton Bay, Union Island

After our morning chat with ‘Doctor G’ and a quick trip ashore to buy some bread and fruit, we left Clifton at midday, with ‘Larry the lobster 2’ languishing unceremoniously in a bucket of seawater in the forward heads.
Palm Island

Nicky wanted to anchor off Petit St Vincent so we headed south, our route taking us past Palm Island again. It was still looking lovely…
Approaching Petit St Vincent

.. but we had (nearly) our own perfect Caribbean island to head for. Just 5 miles south of Union Island, and the southernmost island in the St Vincent Grenadines, Petit St Vincent is a private island and luxury boutique hotel. We were so close it seemed a shame to miss what sounded like a beautiful anchorage, and now that we had checked into the island group we could.
Working our way into the anchorage at PSV

Union Island just to the left of PSV
Petit St Vincent (or PSV as it is known locally) is an exclusive holiday retreat. Most of the island is off limits but they are yachtie friendly and allow us to walk on one of the beaches and to use the beach bar and one of the restaurants. As you would expect, with such beautiful looking water, we swam ashore finding some interesting looking coral on the way.

The hotel guests stay in small houses (some actually quite large) scattered across the island and, apparently, if they want room service they hoist a flag outside their accommodation to let the hotel staff know.

We didn’t use the restaurant because we had ‘Larry the Lobster 2’ on board, who needed killing, cooking and eating. This one we grilled on the barbeque with garlic butter. It seemed the perfect meal whilst we were anchored off such a beautiful island in the Caribbean.
The sort of view that we sailed across the Atlantic to enjoy
