Küçük Kuyruk (again)

After a very calm night in Tomb Bay in the early afternoon of Tuesday 7th October we headed further into the southwest corner of Skopea Limani, the western side of Fethiye Körfezi, just to take a look. Skopea Limani is about 10 miles long, with Göçek at the north end, and Tomb Bay is in the middle on the western side, so we are not talking big distances.

The scenery is delightful and we picked out some lovely looking creeks and small bays to which we hope to return next year. However, mindful of our need to get west towards Marmaris, we had picked an anchorage a little further south on the outside of the chain of islands and headlands on the southwest of Fethiye Körfezi for our overnight stop.

To get there we ghosted along under just genoa but needed the engine again as we passed through the narrow passage between the island of Domus Adası and the mainland’s headland.

The number of yachts at anchor markedly reduced as we worked our way past the bays but there were still several tucked away. We hoped that would mean that our planned night stop of Kizilkuyruk Köyü would also be less busy.

Sadly, that was not the case. When we got there we found that there were lots of gulets and yachts already anchored there and the shelter didn’t seem as good as we had hoped. We had passed Küçük Kuyruk 10 minutes before and noted that it was empty and so, having enjoyed being there so a couple of nights before, we went back there.
Deploying the ‘Nicky Mooring device’
When we got back we found that another yacht had beaten us to the best spot but with just the 2 yachts in the bay there was plenty of space. We fell into our standard routine to moor with Nicky swimming out the stern lines once the bower anchor had been deployed and proven to hold.

And then we settled down to enjoy another lovely evening and a beautiful moonrise. Just idyllic.
