Órmos Kira Panayía

The monastery
To complete our circuit of Kira Panayía we headed out of órmos Planitis on 6 June. This time we sailed down the eastern side of the island past Monastery Bay. The monastery is active and there appeared to be a lot of building work going on. It is possible to visit but to do so from a yacht the weather would have to be much more settled because the bay underneath the monastery is quite open.

We headed on south, sailing with just the genoa unfurled, back towards órmos Kira Panayía. This would put us at the southern end of the island ready to head south as well as giving us the chance to look at the picturesque anchorage by the island. When we arrived we were the only yacht there and we  were joined by just one other yacht overnight. Sadly the weather was windy and overcast so we perhaps didn’t see the place at its best but the water was very clear and excellent for swimming.
