Néa Klima

Leaving Skíathos
After a very pleasant couple of days in Skíathos, on 19 July we headed out of the harbour on the search of somewhere to swim.
Islands to the east of Skíathos
There are several small islands just to the east of Skíathos and we tucked ourselves into a small bay on the south side of one of these for a lunch stop. The wind was blowing quite strongly but we got sufficient shelter and had a good couple of hours there. We were joined by several other yachts all with the same idea, so the anchorage was quite busy by the time we left.

The wind made for some exhilarating sailing for the girls.

But sadly for them we weren’t going very far; just 9 miles east to the small port of Néa Klima.
Approaching Néa Klima
There isn’t much at Néa Klima but it has a nice atmosphere. Right beside the harbour is a lovely beach so we were able to swim there as well as visit the cafés. Charlotte and Sophie headed off to the small shop to get some ice for their cocktail creations but, “No ice until tomorrow” was the response from the shopkeeper. The potential ‘disaster’ was, however, averted with a trip back to their favourite café which kindly furnished them with a bag of ice cubes. Once back on board they beavered away with vodka, lemonade and strawberry juice. The resultant cocktails made for a very relaxing evening during which we agreed a plan for visiting some of the locations used in the “Mamma Mia!” film.
