A Coruña
A Coruña is a colourful and lively place. Its natural harbour was used by the Phoenicians and the Romans so there is certainly a lot of history about the place.
The old city sits alongside the new and our marina was close to the centre so we very much enjoyed exploring both. Tapas bars were, once again, a great temptation in the evenings. We particularly enjoyed the calamari and empanada (a Galician flat pie normally with a fish filling; we had octopus). The tapas bars ranged from swish affairs with hams hanging from the ceilings feeling almost like delicatessens with the tapas dishes on show, to the more basic set ups which were usually full of locals chatting enthusiastically.
They were all great fun and gave us some ideas for our own pre-dinner nibbles when we were back onboard.
