Ría de Ferrol

Navigating our way east into the ría (late afternoon on 10 May), at its narrowest point, we came abeam on our port side the Castello de San Felipe and instantly knew that we had found our anchorage for the night.

On the opposite, southern side of the ría is the Castello de la Palma and looking east we could see the ría open out into the commercial and Naval port area. This little bay of Rinconada de Leusada, however, was a delightful spot to relax and watch the sun go down with a glass of Cava in hand.

Just twice during our weekend stay the commercial aspect of the port made itself felt with the arrival of a ship. In general though, we just relaxed and smiled remembering that Ría de Ferrol “offers little for cruising yachts”.
