A happy fisherman; manly hunter-gatherer status
confirmed! |
We left Bozburun at 10 am on 17 September to make our way southwest and then east to get around to the Marmaris side of the Karaburun headland. There was no wind again and so it was another motor around enjoying the views. On the way there was a little excitement when Alex caught a large Spanish mackerel so that was cleaned and filleted ready for lunch.

Approaching Bozuk Bükü with the citadel overlooking the entrance to the bay |
In April Nicky and I had stopped at
Bozuk Bükü just after we had left Marmaris. Alibaba's restaurant was being prepared for the season but they still allowed us to moor on their jetty for the night. That was perfect for us because we were able to climb up to explore the ruins of the fantastic Hellenistic citadel which overlooks the bay. We thought that Alex and Lucy would like to do the same and so after motoring for 14 miles we turned into
Bozuk Bükü for the night.

Alex on the castle walls |
We were the first yacht to moor up on the wooden jetty that day, arriving in time to enjoy the Spanish mackerel for lunch. The water was very clear and so we spent the afternoon swimming, reading and watching the jetty fill up with more yachts. When the heat of the afternoon had passed Alex and Lucy climbed up to walk around the walls of the ruined citadel before we all met up back on board BV for sundowners.

Alibaba's Restaurant |
Dinner at Alibaba's was very pleasant with a mezze full of fresh flavours to start, followed by simple but nicely cooked chicken and shish kebab dishes. With no urban lighting to speak of, an umbrella of bright stars filled the night sky above us as we sat chatting in the cockpit back on board BV before we all turned in for a peaceful night's sleep.
