Ova Bükü

Approaching Ova Bükü
Our evening destination was only 13 miles further east at Ova Buku, a tiny village with a small fishing harbour, a beach and several tavernas. Leaving in the afternoon we had a good 15-20 knots of wind so poled out the genoa and made excellent progress arriving there just before 4pm. There was even space for us to moor stern to on the small quay.

That said, the chap that took our lines was very optimistic about the depth being 2 metres beside the quay and both Nicky and I felt the rudder touch the bottom whilst we were sorting the lines and anchor chain tension. BV was duly moved further away from the quay and we used the dinghy as a floating bridge to reach the shore.

Once we were properly moored up we noticed the craggy cliff above us were covered in goats. Impressively, they managed to move easily across the steep rocky terrain including the across the areas which looked impassable.

Ova Bükü is a popular tourist location for Turks and there’s a busy beach and several restaurants. We walked ashore but non of the restaurants particularly caught our eye and so we had a barbecue back onboard BV before Alex and Lucy had their first go at playing Backgammon.
