Kocabahçe - Sailor's Paradise

Sailing to Kocabahçe was a delight. With not a cloud in the sky, a gentle 10 knots of westerly wind and beautiful scenery to look at, Alex zig zagged us west in 'champagne sailing' conditions. This area is a very popular cruising ground and so there were a lot of other yachts also enjoying the conditions. Lucy's Mum had reported sub 10 degrees temperatures back home whilst we were basking in 30 degrees plus. It was difficult not to feel smug.

Kocabahçe is also know as Sailor's Paradise because of the restaurant in the bay of the same name.

We pulled into the bay at 2 pm but we didn't moor to the small pontoon associated with the restaurant.

Instead we anchored and tied ourselves to the shore so that we were free to do our own thing and eat on board.

We all swam but didn't really see many fish though.

Alex did catch something quite large when we cast his line in the evening. Sadly, it managed to escape as he was lifting it on board so there are no photographs of his triumph. We rustled up a Chinese meal for dinner to ring the changes and then set up the TV in the cockpit for a film night.
